Muppets will be taking over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed three new Notices of Commencement tied to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios, as momentum builds for the attraction's transformation into Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.

The new filings are assigned to Elite A/V System Inc, Solotech, and Sign Producers Inc - all companies with experience in show systems, entertainment technology, and themed installations.

Two of the permits, for Elite A/V System Inc and Solotech, list the scope of work as Electrical Work. Both companies are known for their involvement in advanced audio, video, lighting, and show control systems.

The third permit, assigned to Sign Producers Inc, is specifically for "Install Signage." This likely points to new exterior or interior themed signage related to the upcoming Muppets version of the ride.

Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will permanently close on March 2, 2026, with March 1 serving as the final day of operation. The new Muppets version is scheduled to open in summer 2026, leaving only a few months for heavy construction and installation work.

Disney seems to usually target holidays, I could easily see it opening Memorial Day or even July 4th. But could see cast member previews and stuff start early. Either way think this is gonna be a really really quick turnaround, like under 3 months.

We are going around the same time and because I haven't heard anything yet I am assuming it won't open until maybe July.

Rock'n'Roller Coaster is my sons favorite ride at WDW We have a trip planned in mid June. What's the likelihood that it will be opened by then? I know "summer 2026" is vague. But I'd imagine they would want it open for summer crowds. Any insiders care to calm my fears?! Thanks

Watched the Muppet Show during the D23 Preview last night and it ends in a rock song sung by all the Muppets and I couldn’t help but think of this redo.

I’d like animal to do the countdown then Dr Teeth “Yeaaahhh” and then it blasts into “can you deal with that”

sedati11 days ago

Oh no. I love animal, but it has to be Dr Teeth with his long drawn out "Oh YeaaAAAAHHH!!!!" from "Can You Picture That" that takes us into the launch. Would be an amazing tribute if they can actually work some of Jim Henson's recordings of the character into the attraction.

My guess: All members of the Electric Mayhem are involved in the countdown, but Animal has the scream.

I think there was a press release that mentioned Muppet Labs helping out, so maybe Bunsen and Beaker?

Maybe the new animatronic will tell guests to walk this way... Side question - who does the countown now? - Dr Teeth?, Fozzie?, Animal?- Kermit's energy doesn't seem big enough to match the Tyler scream....although he has that double arm wave thing he does if they add a video

Create a caricature of the band as muppet characters and hang it somewhere in the queue…maybe in the recording studio booth??

HauntedPirate15 days ago

I say that simply because I have zero faith they would do such a thing for Aerosmith. Sadly.

Maybe they will include an Aerosmith song in the sound track
