Work continues to progress on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The marquee limousine paint job remains in progress, while additional scaffolding and scrim now fully cover the Stratocaster guitar structure.

The attraction closed on March 1, 2026, and will reopen summer 2026.

Limo Paint Job Underway

The limousine positioned above the entrance is receiving its new flame design, though the paint work is not yet complete. Red and yellow flames are visible on portions of the vehicle.

Stratocaster Fully Enclosed

The 40-foot Stratocaster guitar is now surrounded by expanded scaffolding and covered in scrim. The additional coverage extends across the entire structure, creating a complete enclosure for the rework.

This setup allows crews full access to the guitar while protecting the work in progress from weather and providing a clean surface for the update. The iconic red guitar will emerge with a rainbow-colored design featuring stars and "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets" branding.

So you think the company would like to run a resort in a way that guests wouldn’t want? Why would they want to do that?

I'd honestly be okay with them putting an Inside Out show in the Magic Eye Theater (wouldn't be a perfect fit, but hey, neither was Captain EO). If they retheme the entire pavilion to the movie and replace Figment with Joy, I'm rioting.

It might be because the local SoCal fanbase actually mobilizes against Disney when they try to replace or drastically change beloved attractions over there. Granted, It isn't Tokyo level quality over there but it is FAR above WDW for most of the last twenty-one years.

I am really hoping they are not that stupid but I don't have that much to make me optimistic. Then again, it's not like they didn't try to force an unnecessary film tie-in on that particular pavilion before and famously mobilized angry longtime visitors against it so I have a little more hope than I would usually have.

Ironically, you can actually blame the original Imagineers for the one that wasn't built under Iger. Not that it makes it any less unnecessary or dated.

Exactly!

It was during my lifetime, I am only one year younger than the park, but I didn't make it there until I was nine years old and the park itself was ten years old by that point.

It's the difference of DL being a local park and WDW being a "once in a lifetime" experience for most visitors, and knowing they can get away with milking tourists more.

MrPromey8 hours ago

I'm sure they'd like to run DL more like WDW but their makeup of guests out there is far more that of a regional park and I don't think the locals they rely on would tolerate it.

The difference in how TWDC runs and expands Disneyland vs WDW is strange and frustrating to me. They seem to add and plus far more at Disneyland. WDW is more of replace. Almost as if they have 2 competing philosophies on how to run and expand a theme park and run them concurrently.

If you have been taught that, then… finish this sentence for me?

MK capacity gains is not even close, it would be a major gain, significantly more than AK. The riverboat & TSL had pretty bad capacity. If current rumors were to be believed and we get a Radiator Springs-like ride (1550 pph), Mater's Junkyard-like ride (600 pph), a major coaster similar in scope to slinky dog dash (1440 pph), and a boat ride using Shanghai boat system (couldnt' find a good one but I'll be fairish and just use Pirates current capacity (3000 pph, even dropping this down to 2000 pph would be a MAJOR improvement on capacity).

To be fair, Camp Mickey & Minnie was always a temporary placeholder for a land they weren't going to be able to open with the rest of the park. It just ended up being Pandora instead of Beastly Kingdom.

GotG is tough for me. I love the ride so, so much but man did it really belong elsewhere thematically. So I take the victory here in a quality, popular attraction that reinvigorated capacity from a dead ride
