Hollywood Studios Map Updated Following Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Closure - March 2026
Posted: Monday March 2, 2026 6:50am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Disney has updated the digital guidemap for Disney's Hollywood Studios to reflect the closure of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith. The attraction closed at the end of March 1, 2026, and the map now shows the building without its iconic red Stratocaster guitar and name label.

The Stratocaster will return when Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens in summer 2026, but with a new Muppets-inspired color look.

The new Muppets version will follow the Electric Mayhem on a frantic dash across Hollywood as they try to reach their biggest concert yet.

Inside the reimagined G-Force Records - now under Muppet management - Scooter attempts to wrangle the band while a crew of penguin audio engineers manages the recording equipment. This will be the first time Scooter appears as a Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure, and Disney has hinted that additional Muppet figures may appear throughout the experience.

The building always was quite minimalist theme-wise and would look even worse in that case.

Indeed!

I think it's just going to be the car and some swirls on the guitar. If that's all they do, I think it's okay and a way to signify that the attraction is different than before. However, if they paint the whole building in technicolor and place silly props all over, like the gift shop that was adjacent to MuppetVision, then that would be inappropriate for this space.

I can’t figure out if it is or not! And I don’t think Disney does either haha.

If only the Studio framework was still a thing.

I'm not digging this. If everything is painted technicolor vomitus it renders the aesthetic itself pointless. The Mayhem Bus for example, worked because its gonzo design stood out against an otherwise normal world; that contrast made it whimsical. But treating that kind of visual madness as the default “Muppets look” misses the point. If every surface is pushed into exaggerated spectacle, it becomes empty noise instead of charm. The tone that defined The Muppets was closer to "quirky understatement" than constant chaos, with oddball elements slipping casually into ordinary settings. What WDI is doing here feels tonally off.

So literally all you guys can do is post useless dismissive hyperbole in response to thoughtful posts laying out specific reasons one might object to the new design. Simply because you disagree. Got it. Thanks for the very valuable contribution. Really starting to think s select group of you don't really understand what a discussion is, since every single thread now seemingly has to devolve into pages and pages of arguing against you and like three other specific posters against nonsense misrepresentations of what is even being said. It's ridiculous.

A simple way to add more visual cohesion with the new paint design is to add some colorful plants/flowers. Put some more color into the Market area in the corner by the Arch. Doesn't have to be dramatic, but some flower power will make the change less abrupt.

They could be a huge improvement if we end up that area "Muppet Studios" too.

They could be a huge improvement if we end up with that area being “Muppet Studios” one day.

RnRc was always a bit of a clash with the area so they had to drum up a backstory about G Force records seeing a spike in business from the intrigue surrounding the Hollywood Tower Hotel. But that’s the same method as putting a carnival in DAK and then saying it’s there because of backstory and not because it was easy and cheap to do at the time. All that said, RnRc was like a baby step in mismatched theming, the Muppets changes are only incrementally more as long as they show restraint, which they most likely are either by choice or the constraints of the budget and/or timeframe for this project.

Yes, it was an example of excellent transitions in a Disney theme park.

Why are we acting like that whole conversation wasn’t connected to the original discussion of RNRC? Yes that was separate tangent but ultimately it was still pertaining to how Disney was gonna approach the Muppets transition.
