The pre-show area at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is now fully blocked off, with newly installed G-Force Records-themed screens covering the windows into the recording studio. Instead of watching the pre-show, guests are currently moved straight through the hallway and into the load area. Disney has not commented on the change, leaving the long-term status of the pre-show unclear.
While no official closure has been announced, the setup does not resemble a routine technical downtime. The themed panels are specifically designed to hide the pre-show room from view, suggesting that Disney may have begun early interior prep work for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, opening Summer 2026. The pre-show is expected to be one of the most heavily reworked spaces during the transformation.
Background: A Full Muppets Reimagining Arrives Summer 2026
Disney previously announced that the attraction will fully convert to Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, debuting in Summer 2026 at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The new version will follow the Electric Mayhem on a frantic dash across Hollywood as they try to reach their biggest concert yet.
Inside the reimagined G-Force Records - now under Muppet management - Scooter attempts to wrangle the band while a crew of penguin audio engineers manages the recording equipment. This will be the first time Scooter appears as a Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure, and Disney has hinted that additional Muppet figures may appear throughout the experience.
Ride Experience and Exterior Changes
The coaster will continue its high-speed limo launch, but the journey will be reworked with Muppet twists on Hollywood landmarks and backstage chaos. The Electric Mayhem's soundtrack will play throughout the ride, bringing new energy to the familiar layout.
Outside, the red guitar will get a psychedelic redesign inspired by classic Muppet styling, including a golden piano key as a nod to Dr. Teeth.
Disney has also released the attraction's first poster and digital wallpaper, featuring the Electric Mayhem in full rock mode.
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster will remain open in its current Aerosmith form through 2025. Disney has not provided a closure date, and today's change only affects the pre-show area.
For the moment, guests can still ride, but the blocked-off studio strongly suggests that early steps toward the Muppets transformation may already be underway.
