The animal care team at Walt Disney World is celebrating the latest birth at Disney's Animal Kingdom. This yellow-backed duiker calf, named Penny, was born earlier this month to mom Pearl.

The birth of Penny is a very special occasion, considering the fact that Disney has not had a yellow-backed duiker calf born under their care for over 20 years.

Disney has been working with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan to introduce this unique species to guests at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Mom and baby are backstage now, but you can look out for the pair on Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail later this summer.

Sounds like Penny was named after Dr. Mark Penning. I assume he is one of AK's CM Veterinarians.
