The Monsters, Inc. flying door coaster construction site is now highly visible from the Hollywood Studios parking lot, with the steel building framework rising well above the tree line.
New photos taken this week give a clear side-on view of the structural steel now in place, showing just how quickly the enclosed ride building is taking shape.
The images show an extensive steel framework spanning a large footprint, with vertical columns, horizontal beams, and cross-bracing all clearly visible. The black track support columns installed in recent weeks are visible within the structural grid, now surrounded by the building's outer framework.
With building steel now well advanced, the next major phase will be roof installation and eventually wall cladding, which will begin to enclose the structure and conceal the interior from public view. Coaster track pieces are already on-site and ready for installation once the structural framework is sufficiently complete to support them.
Construction is also continuing across the broader Monstropolis expansion, with the Glob Theater conversion progressing inside the former MuppetVision 3D building and scenic work underway across multiple land buildings.
Disney has not announced an opening date for Monstropolis, but we expect to hear more at the upcoming D23 Fan Event in August.
