New photos from the construction site at Disney's Hollywood Studios show significant exterior work underway as the former Muppets Courtyard continues its transformation into Monsters, Inc.'s Monstropolis.
Crews are focused on the facades of the existing brick buildings, with visible removal of large sections where former marquee signage once hung. This includes structures previously home to MuppetVision 3D and Gonzo's Royal Flush, where construction workers can be seen using boom lifts to cut into and remove decorative elements.
Several facade areas have been stripped down or patched over, revealing mounting hardware and insulation that had been hidden behind themed overlays for decades.
This area will transform into Monstropolis, home to the upcoming Monsters, Inc.suspended coaster and a new theater show. The buildings will be re-themed to match the animated urban style of the monster city.
