Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new Notice of Commencement for the Glob Theater, the upcoming show venue being built inside the former MuppetVision 3D theater at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The permit lists Elite A/V Systems as the contractor, with a scope of electrical work.
Elite A/V Systems is a contractor involved in the vast majority of Walt Disney Imagineering projects at Walt Disney World, covering electrical infrastructure for entertainment systems, show control, and audio-visual installations. Their presence on a permit is a routine but reliable indicator that a project is progressing through its technical buildout phase.
The new filing adds to a growing list of contractors now working on the Glob Theater. Previous permits confirmed Jon Richards Company for custom fabrication, Solotech for audio-visual systems, Adirondack Studios and Icarus Exhibits for set element installation, and InterAmerica Stage for additional scenic work.
Exterior work on the former MuppetVision 3D building continues to progress, with scaffolding installed across the facade and crews actively working on what will become the Glob Theater's street-facing presence within Monstropolis. Interior work has been underway across multiple fronts since permits were first filed in December 2025.
Disney has not offered any details on what type of show will replace MuppetVision 3D inside the Glob Theater. However, with D23 Expo just weeks away, an announcement covering the Glob Theater and broader Monstropolis details seems likely. D23 has historically been the venue where Walt Disney Imagineering shares major updates on upcoming attractions and lands.
The Glob Theater will anchor Monstropolis alongside the Monsters, Inc. flying door coaster, where construction is also accelerating.
Disney has not announced an opening date for Monstropolis.
