New Aerial Photos Reveal Latest Progress on Monsters Inc Flying Door Coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Fresh aerial photos show the Monsters Inc. flying door coaster building is now largely enclosed at Hollywood Studios, with Vekoma track staged nearby and ready for delivery ahead of a 2028 opening.

New aerial photos from @bioreconstruct show latest progress on the Monsters, Inc. flying door coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

The images reveal the ride building now substantially enclosed, with roof decking installed across a large portion of the structure and steel framework continuing to rise on the sections still under construction.

Also visible in the latest photos is a substantial quantity of Vekoma coaster track staged at the off-site delivery area along the Skyliner route near EPCOT. The track pieces are lined up and ready for transport to the Hollywood Studios construction site, where installation will follow as the building reaches the required stage of completion.

Disney confirmed at D23 last month that parts of Monstropolis will open in 2027, with the flying door coaster following as construction continues in 2028.

I kinda love how the approach to the coaster extends the muppet courtyard diagonally, ignoring the road, and into the parking lot. It's as if the park boundary is what's "off kilter" not the coaster or the land.

And I'm probably dimwitted to see this so late, but it looks like there are two "reverse drop track" loading areas side by side. Nice.

I have to wonder what goes in the open area of the L shaped building, an outdoor section? Nothing? A bigger building?

I think a big part of them even doing this land is they want to grow the park out into the parking lot. As evidence by the fact they even changed the angle of the enterence to this park. wether it be in 1 year or 20, indy and starters will one day get replaced/rethemed, but its clear they want lands to connect one day in the back to the door coaster. my only question is how

Don't quote me on this but it might take over Muppets Courtyard

Now that's just crazy talk!
Could the pizza actually be decent??
Wow, that's an incredible update. I'm sure the majority of people thought Rizzo's would just be reskinned. It would have still made plenty of money doing the bare minimum. Confirmation of kitchen upgrades and the promise of improved food really shows the scale of transformation they're going for here, and their commitment to enhancing the parks experiences.
As long as it isn’t flatbread pizza. I don’t like Disney’s flatbreads.
Hopefully Pizza Moon raised the bar.
As the food at the other parks improves, the juxtaposition of DAK/Epcot/DHS QSRs to MK QSRs only becomes more stark.

Conspiracy theory, but I'm starting to wonder if it's intentional. Like, is it meant to encourage park hoppers to switch parks at mealtime and/or resort guests to leave the park for a couple hours via the monorail?

My inner optimist hopes they will improve the food quality at MK before the Villains Land debut.

If they wanted to do that they would have actually built the entire land in the parking lot and maybe even added to muppets courtyard while they are at it. The muppet movie ride could have been done.

He said the equipment got upgraded…. The problem with pizza Rizzo wasn’t the ovens so I’m not sure what to expect yet! Haha

yeah but also, focusing on what could be, not what could've been, they can easily add a second family friendly monsters inc ride or additional lands of various properties and theme
Glob Theater Marquee Coming Soon to Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios
A marquee for the Glob Theater is on the way to Monstropolis, with Sign Producers Inc. contracted for the install after scaffolding cleared to reveal pre-mounted signage points on the facade. The theater, built inside the former MuppetVision 3D space, is set to open as part of Monstropolis in 2027.
