Disney’s Animal Kingdom is inviting fans to join a weekly online experience with Tiger Tuesday Live!, a new YouTube series that offers behind-the-scenes access to a rare Sumatran tiger cub, Bakso, and his mother, Sohni.

Launched on Disney Parks’ YouTube channel, the series offers fans a unique glimpse into Bakso’s journey as he grows, learns, and prepares for his future on the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

Weekly Updates on Baby Bakso

Every week, viewers can tune in to see what life looks like for Bakso and Sohni behind the scenes at Animal Kingdom. Each episode will cover what’s happened in the week prior, giving fans regular, up-close insights into the tiger cub’s development.

A Significant Birth for Sumatran Tigers

Bakso’s birth is more than just a milestone for Animal Kingdom; it’s a critical moment for the Sumatran tiger species. Born under the expert care of Animal Kingdom’s team, Bakso is the first Sumatran tiger born at the park in seven years. This birth marks a meaningful addition to the global population of Sumatran tigers, a critically endangered species with fewer than 600 remaining in the wild and in managed care worldwide. Bakso’s arrival underscores Disney’s commitment to conservation, especially for animals on the brink of extinction.
A Glimpse into Conservation Efforts.

Through partnerships with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Species Survival Plan (SSP), Disney aims to support and protect endangered species, like the Sumatran tiger, in both managed environments and their natural habitats.

The Disney Conservation Fund, established in 1995, has been instrumental in supporting organizations that protect tigers and their environments. The fund recently awarded a grant to the Wildlife Conservation Society, helping to safeguard tigers in the wild, a vital step toward preserving the species for future generations.

AK actually is a welcomed verdant relaxed shaded respite from the MK and Hollywood. Epcot some very good restaurants and "The Food and Wine Festival" .

…if people don’t like zoos. Don’t go to the zoo. Just that simple Plenty of other spots to do Elsa things and wait 50+ Minutes for 50 second rides

Wait. People actually want to do the animal walk throughs? 🐯🐅 If you listen to park commandos, there are not enough attractions in AK, making it the worst of the four parks. Don't shoot the messenger. I'm just repeating a common "complaint."

Really that’s interesting I did not know that

Not sure where the surprise by the amount of attention is coming from. When the twins were born in 2017, crowds were huge. Then again, that was the 1st tiger birth ever at AK, but still. This was just the 2nd and it took 7 years for it to happen. The amount of attention and large crowds is expected and very much warranted.

I am very pleasantly surprised by the attention this has gotten I was thinking yesterday about how he will come out and no one will care meanwhile I’ve been reading about him in the parks blog for months I did not have time to watch the videos sadly

No I hear that… Its shocking it took 200 years for enough people to say “oh crap…we’ve almost killed them all…let’s get some in zoos” Abusive animals…we are

For me, at least, it depresses me that so many of these types of animals are endangered/threatened and can’t live freely in the wild in their natural habitats because of human action. That’s sad. Petting zoos, on the other hand, are fine 😉

Cute little stinker… I will never understand those that can’t appreciate a zoo…not only from the research side…but animals have an innocence that should make all humans jealous This combined with the panda coverage in DC makes it a good week
