Disney has today announced that it plans to retain its mini-parade cavalcades into the future with an all-new cavalcade debuting at Magic Kingdom in spring 2022.

The new cavalcade is titled 'Disney Adventures Friends Cavalcade,' and will be the largest ever staged featuring both Disney and Pixar characters.

In the news release, Disney said, "These cavalcades have been very popular and will continue to be part of the park entertainment experience into the future. Mickey’s Celebration Cavalcade debuted Oct. 1 as part of the 50th anniversary, and later this winter, we’ll introduce a new cavalcade, the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade, with an exciting lineup of characters all embarking on a great journey through the park. The Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade will feature the most characters of any cavalcade to date, including Nick and Judy from “Zootopia,” Baloo and King Louie from “The Jungle Book,” José Carioca and Panchito from “The Three Caballeros,” Miguel from “Coco,” plus Merida, Moana, The Incredibles, and so many more!"

Disney introduced cavalcades during the reopening from the COVID-19 shutdown, and are seen as a temporary stop-gap as no meet and greets or parades were possible. It appears their popularity means they will continue on into the future.

I completely agree with cavalcades over parades. Hearing the music, waiting for the float to pass by in a minute or two and getting on with your day is so much better than having to stake out a spot before the parade, stay for the entire parade and then being caught in a sea of people afterwards.

All of the bridges to Discovery Island are good too. They get really close because they go right under you and then you catch them on the other side too! My favorite one is the bridge to dinoland.

That helps. Thanks!

I'm not sure how to describe it, but it was from a walking path in Africa (maybe near Harambe Market?) heading over to Pandora... Also from same area, but further up, not quite on path (this is a capture from a video of me dancing with them, but I'm sparing you all my amazing dance moves): This is the path I think - just further down from my pic above!

What spots did you enjoy watching from?

dreday3Nov 21, 2021

Sure, but man we loved the floatillas when we finally got to see them this October! There are some spots that you can get really close and we watched almost all of them and the characters can actually see you, look right at you and we would do dance moves then they would copy! 🤣 We saw one coming and we ran over, some other couple just ran over to see why we did and then they thanked us because they didn't know about them. The floatillas were one of our favorite trip moments. But yes, they can look better!

And they’ll have an actual parade. Everyone can be happy. Not sure why I got angry faces for liking cavalcades. Didn’t realize that wasn’t an acceptable opinion.

Under the Disney 2021 rulebook, it's acceptable for years to come.

I can understand and respect that. I’m just in a different place in my life and would rather see an actual parade. My kids have outgrown character appearances by years. 😀

The floatillas need a significant upgrade if they are staying. The dressed up pontoon boats were passable as a stop-gap, but look terribly out of place. Disney can and should do far better.

I would say this is, for the most part, an improvement of the MiSi concepts. Frontierland Hoedown however would be missed if it doesn’t come back. I hope studios and animal kingdom keep their calvacades / floatillas theyre great fun!

Honestly call me crazy but I’m not upset about that. Hollywood Studios having some sort of parade similar to Stars in Cars wouldn’t be awful but this cavalcade route isn’t bad. It’s perfect for parks like Epcot and def Animal Kingdom, where long parades could cause congestion problems.

I hope they add Raya to this cavalcade 🤞🏼

Nope. The daily parade stays daily. In one park.
