Disney reminds guests to behave at Walt Disney World or be asked to leave

In a recent Walt Disney World website update, Disney has taken steps to remind guests to behave or be asked to leave.

The new section on the "Getting Ready for Your Visit to Walt Disney World Resort" page, titled "Courtesy," says:

Be the magic you want to see in the world. You must always remember to treat others with respect, kindness and compassion. Those who can't live up to this simple wish may be asked to leave Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney has a courtesy section in its general Walt Disney World property rules, but this latest addition makes courtesy more prominent, putting it alongside theme park reservations, health & safety, and My Disney Experience. You can see a screenshot of the updated web page below.

The reminder for guests to behave may be a result of a recent increase in unruly guest behavior at the theme parks.

You can see the new "Courtesy" section here, and read the general park rules here.

What I witnessed at times in the drunken debachery of Pleasure Island on the dance floor and in the bathrooms thank goodness no one had iPhones back in the day.

Many frustrations (and other things) were worked out there lol

Maybe that's the answer, bring back PI, get your frustrations worked out there

That sign would never even be considered to be posted during the infamous heyday of adults only Pleasure Island nights.

Which is excellent, and why I'm in support of the sign. Lots of bad behavior may result in an escort out.

I was addressing the content of the posts in this thread.

Yeah, so not just fighting. Which means there’s a whole spectrum of behavior before we get to someone throwing a punch.

It’s implicit when you advertise the whole experience and then a price based on a length of stay. That’s the way WDW has always been marketed.

Chi84Dec 18, 2022

The change is under “courtesy” and says “Be the magic you want to see in the world. You must always remember to treat others with respect, kindness and compassion. Those who can’t live up to this simple wish may be asked to leave Walt Disney World Resort.”

lazyboy97oDec 18, 2022

Is the change on the website specifically about people throwing punches?

Chi84Dec 18, 2022

Don’t they just market based on all that’s available? Do they actually say you can experience everything in 5 days? People would be a lot less stressed and frustrated if they made some choices about what to see and do.

LittleBufordDec 18, 2022

I agree. I was trying to make the point (somewhat rhetorically) that if they’re that volatile to begin with, they’re probably going to explode sooner or later anyway, no matter how much Disney tries to pacify them. Needless to say, I don’t welcome such behaviour ever, especially in front of children. I will edit my post accordingly.

I’d really rather that such people not “out” themselves in front of my 3 and.7 year old, thank you very much.

LittleBufordDec 18, 2022

Throwing litter on the ground and throwing a punch are two very different things. Disney shouldn’t be expected to mollify people with violent tendencies.
