Guests visiting Magic Kingdom this weekend will have their last chance to experience two of Walt Disney World's classic attractions before they permanently close to make way for the upcoming Cars-themed land.

Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will operate for the final time on Sunday, July 6, 2025, with both attractions officially closing beginning Monday, July 7.

Final Operating Hours

Liberty Square Riverboat

  • Open July 3 - 6 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Tom Sawyer Island

  • Open July 3 - 6 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Tom Sawyer Island, a walk-through attraction inspired by Mark Twain’s stories, has been a guest favorite for decades, offering a rustic escape via log raft and an immersive exploration of caves, forts, and trails. The Liberty Square Riverboat, the Liberty Belle, has long provided scenic cruises around the Rivers of America, offering views of Frontierland and Liberty Square.

Both attractions will be permanently removed as Disney prepares to redevelop the area into Piston Peak National Park, part of a massive Cars-themed land coming to Magic Kingdom. This new area will feature an off-road rally adventure and natural park-inspired theming.

Guests hoping to say goodbye to these iconic attractions have just a few days left to do so. After July 6, construction will begin behind the scenes as Disney gears up for the next era of storytelling in Frontierland.

Sign reads: "Patriotism Swells in the Heart of the American Bear" With a silhouette of Fozzie Bear. 🤔

surprised they didn’t do a little light theming for the mansion walls unless they are pretty temporary?

There was once more to do and more ways to get there and back.

Was also comically tiny, and seemed like it belonged in a backyard.

For those that said Cars isn't popular anymore, someone should let the Test Track store know ;)

I definitely agree and hope the same ... I would think they know of any project that needs the full scope, even if it means increasing the budget, is this one - just with how visible it will be they really need to get it as right as they can - but we shall see

Why not just walk through Moana as a pleasant thing to do? It's as though you have to wait on line for it, and board it. It's not out of the way.

I agree, all we can do is wait and see. My hope is there are not excessive scope cuts to stay within budget.

The problem with Moana is the same with Tom Sawyer Island. With the large number of repeat guests both are one and done. I go to WDW 2 to 3 times a year. I have not been on TSI in over 5 years, grand kids were all on it once and had no desire to go back. Same with Moana, went thru once and have no desire to visit again. Now consider Soarin--I have been on this attraction well over 50 times (combined both old and new version) and yet every trip still enjoy going on it. That being said my motto is "each to their own" and if someone wants to complain about the loss of TSI that is their option. Heck, Splash Mountain has been gone I believe over 3 years and people are still complaining about the change.
