Kali River Rapids has reopened to guests today at Disney's Animal Kingdom following its annual refurbishment. The attraction is operating with posted hours of 9:00 am to 7:00 pm today, and as of 10:15am, the standby wait time is 5 minutes.

Kali River Rapids closed earlier than usual this year, beginning its refurbishment on October 6. In recent years, the water ride has typically gone down in January and reopened closer to spring. The adjusted schedule had the attraction ready ahead of the planned February 2, 2026, closure of DINOSAUR and the rest of DinoLand U.S.A.

Located in the Asia section of the park, Kali River Rapids takes guests on a white-water raft experience through jungle scenery and a logging site, with a strong chance of getting soaked. With today's reopening, the ride is once again available during the busy holiday season.

Just in time for the next two week's cold spell!!

I feel like the most crowded I ever saw AK was back in 2006, when Everest was new. Maybe it was just that parkgoers were more concentrated on the walkways, but AK felt crazy busy that spring. When the Avatar area was new, and it was open at night, and the area was in good shape, and they had live performers, it was more appealing than it is now. Faded fake plants are not compelling. But I am inclined to think they would not have to do all that much to make the area more compelling again. It would take some money, but they should have made the plants more interactive. Moana gets criticized here, but that attraction has some staying power because young children are drawn like magnets to play with interactive water fountains. For that matter, the interactive water guns used to be one of the highlights of Kali.

When Kali was new, we sometimes brought cheap flip flops to AK that we wore just for Kali. (the flat type take up minimal space/are light, but are still more than I want to carry.) Now, we wear quality hiking style sandals. In warmer months, we prefer to wear them all day almost every day over sneakers. By this I mean, sandals = a wide variety of shoes, from cheap flip flops to high quality shoes. You want something that is water tolerant, with good arch support, and (IMO) has adjustable straps. Some brands to consider that come in both genders are Keen, Ecco., Dr. Scholls. Something like Dr. Scholl's Gus sandal. Leather sandals will usually be okay in rain, but they can be improved with waterproofing spray.

It is not as wet as the rides at IoA in my limited experience on it. How wet you get on FD partly depends on what targets you personaIly hit. I vaguely recall that it was mostly my upper body that got wet. My shoes stayed dry, and standing =dryer than sitting.

Then there's Bilge Rat Barges. I brought body wash and a loofah to kill two birds with one stone.

KRR is a gamble. Typically, 2 people get soaked (like down to their underwear drenched) and everyone else in the raft is pretty much dry.

2017 through 2020 AK had higher attendance than EPCOT according to TEA reports. Just shows what new attractions can do for a park.

It’s a great idea but that will never happen.

Free park hoppers would be a super smart, guest friendly, and a good business move to make. Will they do it? Of course not. Its too smart and it makes too much sense.

TheMaxReboOct 06, 2025

Kali needs annual Maintenace, they just moved it up for this year so that it would be back open before Dinosaur goes down - so get that aspect I think for the other parks there is still plenty to do despite the walls, but for AK, once Dino goes down and that entire quadrant of the park is closed they should provide guests with like free park hopper to EPCOT or DHS for days they start at AK ... while I certainly can spend a full day at AK anyway, it would be hard to say it is providing a complete Disney parks experience currently

Disstevefan1Oct 06, 2025

Oh good, another attraction closed in AK  Actually its a good idea to close and refurbish as many things as possible now since they are losing guests to EPIC so in the quarterly reports they can blame the lower attendance on all of the building and maintenance in WDW and not EPIC. And there is a element of truth to it, there are so many walls in WDW that folks may skip WDW in 2026, 2027

That would make it alot easier!!!! Maybe my feet are just too sensitive, or I am not buying the right sandals, I just can't wear them for that long when walking. I just throw an extra pair of sox in the backback and hope
