The exterior refurbishment at Haunted Mansion is now complete. The final remnants of scrim are gone, and landscaping around the building has been restored.

Fresh grass now covers the grounds surrounding the mansion, and the last of the construction barriers have been removed. Guests can once again see the full facade without any coverings.

The Haunted Mansion continues to operate as normal, with the completed exterior offering guests a fresh look at one of Magic Kingdom's most iconic attractions.

The finished project comes as Disney continues major construction work in the surrounding area for the Cars and Villains Land expansion.

There are things that work and things that don’t work. I’m not sure why monorails, Steam trains, subs, and a Matterhorn all work at Disneyland but they do. We shall see if this works or not. And since it’s subjective some will think it does and some won’t. If they weren’t modern race cars I think they could work ok. Edit to add….. the rivers of America needed an “American” type of steam boat. A narrow gauge Baldwin built for the Yucatán wouldn’t be stopping on midwestern Main Street USA. But that’s a lot closer than lightning McQueens grand race around the kingdom would be!

I think they should lean into the theme. Disney should replace the horseless carriage in the queue with a Car's themed Hearse. He can open his eyes and look around every once in a while like the Leota tombstone.

And depending on how dense they make the tree line, I like the image of the mansion peeking out from behind the trees when walking towards it from Ridge Run Rally. Won’t be as picturesque as the river, but will still give the mansion an aura of foreboding.

A queue where the restrooms is going would be cool. But even without using the restrooms space and just using the space they have already allocated for this function, there is an opportunity there at the intersection of all the material palettes and themes. They could put an 8 foot tall brick wall enclosing that expanded queue to create an "estate" feel around the mansion (with traditional-set brick facing the mansion), which would enhance the queue experience (spooky, moody, music...) but also give the structure the proportional land-space it deserves. Then on the outside of that brick wall, facing Piston Peak, the brick could be clinker bricks and stones, and done in an Arts & Crafts architectural style which would be perfect for blending to the early 20th century rustic National Parks style. (With trees on both sides of the wall.) Natural transition to this structure: And the wonky, whimsical, swirly characteristic of Arts & Crafts brick and stonework would have also been a perfect subtle transition to the off-kilter, unpredictable architecture that is around the corner in Villains Land.

The Mississippi paddleboat sort of fit the theme of the 19th century waterfront with a 19th century manor on the hill...it was not like having a 21st century road rally next to a 19th century man.... huge difference....

People put up with a Mississippi paddle wheel steam boat coming down the Hudson by the HM... and the occasional fireworks... let them put up with a flash of a car.

The junior Cars attraction is surrounded by high walls on the sides that face the Mansion. That in addition to the multiple layers of trees should mean it's not a problem. The bigger concern would be the portion of the Cars main track that crosses the bridge, but that also has its own tree-filled walking path beside it that may provide enough cover even if the HM overflow is not sufficiently wooded.

that forested area better be thick with vegetation and trees to block the views from the mansion to Piston Peak and the Junkyard Car spinning ride...or it will look like the mansion is junkyard adjacent....A shame they could not have built a whole new queue on the plot where the restrooms will be to be able to remove that canopy...

It looks as though the most of the canopy will be somewhat obscured behind a tree line, which is a plus if anything.

I'll be disappointed if they don't rework this whole area more. But looks like the main canopy structure is staying as-is
