Testing of the Harmonious show platform barges is continuing in World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT this week.

Seen here is the Canada barge displaying a test sequence on one side of its video display.

Each panel that makes up the display is individually labelled with a test code, as crews test the setup ahead of each panel being combined into a single large video screen.

Ultimately there will be four of the fin-shaped barges, and one central ring shaped barge.

@Thelazer , thought I had quoted you. True. Im curious if they had ever planned to bring them out every day. The middle barge is three pieces, they float…why build barges at all if you’re going to sit them out on the water permanently, right? Whos to say the budget didn’t originally include channel and bridge widening. And, as you have noted, it won’t overcome them, but with no changes the barges wildly outweigh the rest of the lagoon. But then, there is IP in the show now…maybe that was the plan all along…diminish the importance of the pavilions and make it just about the show on the water. Having worked for TDO in the past, it wouldn’t surprise me if the plans were much more than what became final. They love to bare bones things around there.

Nearly any fixture looks relatively weak in an outdoor setting without any particles to bounce the light beam off of (e.g. haze). It's why I think it's silly to rely heavily on them in this kind of setting.

Scrap the whole thing. 😉

Honestly, even if they upgraded the pavilions, spots etc.. the barges, are the issue here. The size / scale of them compared to everything around it can't be overcome by just upgrading some lights.

The videos make it look like the budget was cut midway through, and considering last year I would not be surprised if that was the case. Their focus became finishing the barges, the must haves, and scrapping upgrades to things like the pavilions, spots, etc. With all of the upgrades to the MK hub, I was hoping they would have taken advantage of the vast space available to modernize those effects.

When you do renderings, and you make it super foggy, those light beams look great. Same thing as that water that is supposed to hide the barges in the day time......

Yeah I’m worried to. I guess it’s possible they’ll flip the switch on all lasers around property on the 1st, but we’ll see.

Yeah you’d think, and we did, that all those lights on each barge would be impressive. Hopefully Disney deliberately released crappy images and videos that isn’t showing us the final look🤞.

Should we be worried about that at this point? I'm all for upgrades but it is odd to have this long a gap considering they got a pretty big upgrade in the final years of IllumiNations, and that was accomplished without interrupting RoE. There was the one preview video which showed the manta ray effect from the AA laser, so maybe they've just been very good at keeping the new programming secret? It would be nice to have them working in EPCOT Forever because there's some obvious show gaps without them.

The lasers were not available in June, and have still not returned to EPCOT Forever.

Indeed. In fact the whole lighting setup seems weak compared to what we were expecting. Hard to judge from testing and outside the park, so we'll see.

Feels to me like if something hasn’t been tested by this point, it won’t be in the show.

Do you think it's possible that same effects weren't included in the popular June test? I also noticed we couldn't see lasers in that testing so idk if what they showed was the FULL package.

One thing we haven’t seen in the preview videos is the spot light beams from the arms like the concept art. Or was that a failed effect? Sadly I think the majority of the lighting effects and lasers wont be to noticeable unless there is enough pyro smoke.
