EPCOT's Frozen Ever After Closing for Refurbishment - New Figures Debuting February 2026

Frozen Ever After will close at EPCOT beginning January 26, 2026, as Disney prepares to install new Audio-Animatronics for Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. The attraction is expected to reopen in February 2026 with the updated figures in place.

The closure marks the first major update to the ride's characters since Frozen Ever After opened in 2016. At that time, the attraction introduced several firsts for Disney, including:

  • All-electric Audio-Animatronics
  • The use of 3D-printed components
  • A new design process built around Elsa's wrist size to support her ice-forming gestures

The ride's animatronics set a foundation that Imagineering has expanded over the last decade. That technology now appears in attractions such as Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Rapunzel's Lantern Festival at Tokyo DisneySea, and World of Frozen at Hong Kong Disneyland. The Hong Kong project is central to this EPCOT refresh - the updated figures there feature more expressive faces, refined movement, and a closer-to-film appearance.

Disney says the EPCOT versions of Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff will receive similar improvements, bringing the characters more in line with today's standards for figure design and animation.

Frozen Ever After is planned to return to operation in February 2026. Disney has not specified an exact date, but the downtime is expected to be brief.

That’s flail wildly “into the unknown”. Get with the IP, man! 😁

LittleBufordDec 04, 2025

I think they’re just replacing the heads; the body movements will remain unchanged, if I’m not mistaken.

Casper GutmanDec 04, 2025

I can’t wait to see these new figures flail wildly in a void.

Biff215Dec 04, 2025

I’m not sure the entire figures will be new. Can anyone confirm?

dmc493Dec 03, 2025

Yeah but they put a figure where one didn't exist before, so there was work beyond the figure itself. The heads are as plug and play as you could get in this type of scenario

And if Malestrom was still there it would be a walk on..

mattpetoDec 03, 2025

1/29 will be a rough AH Epcot night.

mattpetoDec 03, 2025

The first AH event at Epcot is Feb 19th, I think opening right before that makes most sense.

The ride has only closed 3 times for refurbs since opening and they were all only 1-4 day closures. So since the ride is almost 10 years old, I can see them taking this time to do more maintenance.

aladdin2007Dec 03, 2025

They are probably doing other maintenance tasks as well

The HBG on HM... the curtain went up on august first and the figure appeared on November 30th... that was 1 full figure vs the 5ish? heads they have to put in

TouchdownDec 03, 2025

I mean why not? They should be able to test and adjust the new animatronics (because I suspect it’s all new figures) off site and ideally should be just that, plug and play.

PurduevianDec 03, 2025

I'm kind of impressed this is ~1 month turn around to replace all the heads... I'm sure it's not as simple as plug and play.

Disney has also announced Frozen Ever After closes for refurbishment on January 26, 2026 - the last day to ride is January 25.
