'Passage to Frontierland' Sign Returns to Magic Kingdom After Long Absence

Frontierland to Adventureland Sign - May 2025
Posted: Monday May 5, 2025 10:25am ETR by WDWMAGIC Staff

A familiar sign has returned to Magic Kingdom, once again marking the transition between Adventureland and Frontierland.

Located in the archway near Pirates of the Caribbean and Tortuga Tavern, the newly reinstalled wooden sign features two distinct sides:

  • One side reads “Passage to Frontierland”
  • The reverse side reads “Adventureland”

This transitional sign has been absent for an extended period, but its return helps restore the visual theming and wayfinding on the walkway that serves as a connector between the tropical environments of Adventureland and the Old West aesthetic of Frontierland.

So I’m guessing the ROA sign is back too. Too soon?

Fixed it ;)

Shouldn't that say DVC on the bottom?

Saw the sign in person and thought it looks good. I even walked underneath it!! ;)

I can get a little salty. Honestly, it was never great. The inset red lettering always looked odd. This is somehow worse though. Oh well. Yay, the signs back.

So…rustic!

I like that it looks plastic now and how the wood tone doesn't match and that the red lettering is now pink and that if you squint you can almost make out what it says. This is nice!

Did Bob paint it personally?

The other Frontierland sign, entering from Liberty Square, has returned after nearly 2 years. Source and more:

I didn't mean it wasn't understandable. It just seems too bold, as if it were the main entrance.

If you can't figure out the sign then you have bigger problems...lol It is fine...no need for it to have a paragraph of text...

solidyneMay 09, 2025

I agree. It should somehow suggest "this way" or "ahead" or "over here." Even a little arrow would be appropriate. As it stands, it is too declarative, almost a definitive marquee for the land, which doesn't seem right.

This can also be said for what the sign originally said: "Caribbean Plaza." They even went further by putting "Pirates of the Caribbean" in smaller type under it!
