EPCOT Entrance Gets New Look as Trees Removed From Spaceship Earth Planter

EPCOT Main Entrance Landscaping Update — June 2026
Posted: Monday June 22, 2026 8:39am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

The front of EPCOT has a noticeably different look right now. The trees that were planted in the central raised planter in front of Spaceship Earth have been removed, opening up a clear sightline from the park entrance straight to the iconic geosphere.

The trees were added during the redevelopment of EPCOT's main entrance area a few years ago as part of a broader reimagining of the park's front-of-house. Depending on the season and how fully the trees had leafed out, they could partially block your view of Spaceship Earth as you walked into the park.

With the trees gone, you now get an unobstructed view of Spaceship Earth the moment you step through the entrance.

It's not yet clear if the removal is permanent or whether something new will eventually take the trees' place. Disney has not made any announcement about changes to the planter area.

For now, if you're heading to EPCOT, the entrance looks noticeably more open — and Spaceship Earth is front and center the way many fans have always preferred it.

They can, they are good in freezing temps. Sylvester Palms.

These new palms seem to be stronger with thicker trunks. Time will tell if they can endure the cold better.

So it looks better aesthetically, the park is far more of a thematic black hole now than it was then and that's really far more important in the long run.

I don't know about that. While the reworking of the area formerly known as Future World has involved some significant mistakes and has been underwhelming in other respects, they really put a lot of effort into messing it all up during the late-1990s and early-2000s by sticking all sorts of unnecessary decorations around and going wild with the paint scheme.

Unlike nearly everything else in the park.
