EPCOT Scheduled for an Unusually Early Close in July 2026

If you're heading to Walt Disney World over the July 4th weekend, take note: EPCOT is scheduled to close at 5:30pm on July 1, 2026. That's a significant cut to what's typically a much longer summer park day.

July is one of the busier times of year at Walt Disney World. An EPCOT closing time of 5:30pm on July 1 is well below what guests typically see during summer, when the park typically stays open well into the evening.

That's roughly 8.5 hours of park time - including Early Entry - compared to the 12-plus hours other parks are offering that same day.

With the park closing at 5:30pm, there will be no Luminous fireworks that night. The show typically runs at 9pm in the evening, so July 1 guests will need to catch it on another night if it's on your must-do list.

No official reason has been given, but early closures like this are almost always tied to a private event or full park buyout.

Trump only travels to places he can stay at his hotels, he ain’t coming to Disney World.

Plus Celebrate America is 3 Nights this year.

If it is coming, I wouldn’t expect it to be in EPCOT. The Ballroom of the Americas at the Contemporary would make the most sense.

A Canadian corporate buy-out wouldn't shock me, to be honest.

I know you may have been joking but that may actually be the reason why. It makes sense.

Most likely 47 will be in DC..... As for Epcot.....we all know buyouts happen but IDK if 250 Week is the wisest choice.........

Could it be to rehearse a 250th anniversary fireworks? Is 47 showing up?

"Josh, sir? People are unhappy about the early closure of EPCOT on July 1" Josh: "Sorry, I can't hear you..."

Yeesh. I am oftentimes a defender of Disney when others here are not, but even I think this one is a bit much. An early closure two days before the Independence Day weekend? Unacceptable. They should not be doing park buy-outs around those kinds of times.

Really bad look for a busy summer day. Can’t be cheap to buy out Epcot either, particularly in the evening.

What a kick in the teeth to guests. Thinking of doing something else that evening....well MK had EMH for deluxe resort guests and DHS has a paid after hours event. DAK? Closing at 6PM. I guess a prorated single day price adjustment is in order for guests visiting Epcot that day?

July 1st is Canada Day. Corporate buy-out for Epcot's new sponsor, Air Canada? 😆
