World Celebration food and beverage area construction - October 13 2021
Posted: Wednesday October 13, 2021 1:24pm ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

With Creations Shop and Club Cool now open at EPCOT, construction efforts are focused on completing the new food and beverage areas in World Celebration.

The temporary Mouse Gear location is now being gutted to be combined with the space from the former Innoventions area.

The view from the other side shows work progressing on the exterior of the Innoventions and Electric Umbrella building.

We don't yet have specifics on names for the new food and beverage offerings or where they will be located within the building.

New additions will include a quick-service restaurant to replace Electric Umbrella, a new Starbucks, and some other specialty offerings.

Yeah, but his original comment was only about that side of Future World, not Future World as a whole. I was thinking about the area once you're past Communicore because I was considering that a different section of the park.

The entire core of the park has been destroyed. No Innoventions, old Club Cool, meet and greets, flex space, Electric Umbrella, not to mention the actual space to walk around in and the views. It’s an absolute downgrade over what was there 3 and a half years ago.

It's a little like rebuilding the Titanic while people are on it to look post-ice berg because you know swimming lessons with Ariel and Elsa will sell.

I guess the construction walls are new. The attractions are the same as they have been though. It's a shame how bad it is compared to how incredible it was 25-30 years ago.

You mean except construction walls everywhere and every in place attraction feeling like it is falling apart… then sure. It’s a vastly different experience of tunnels and sadness.

UofE has been closed for over 4 years now. I think that whole side of Future World is a disaster -- literally every single thing there is worse than it was in the early-mid 1990s -- but yeah, I don't think it's really any different right now than it was 3.5 years ago.

The only change is UOE?

Just visited for the first time in 3.5 years. Holy crap the north side of this park is a mess of an experience. There is so much work to do to make it interesting again… wow.

For you. Space mountain and Starlight Cafe are probably close enough for others. Just because you have your opinion, though, please don't try to speak like it's a universal truth.

They're (Mission Mars and Space 220) close enough.

Yeah. Found myself letting the credits play through just to listen to the music.

They're not there yet but that's the goal. Similar to how a year ago, private flights off the planet from the US for civilans was not a reality but a goal. Musk has been clear for a long time about his vision of humans on Mars and is putting private money into it. NASA has plans for the moon and Mars. NASA is slow though because it relies on public money and safely doing space stuff is expensive. I know a lot of people think that NASA not being at the front of everything seems like a decline and like space isn't as much of a thing anymore but it's exactly the opposite. Them taking more of a back seat was always the goal. Government was supposed to pick up the slack until there was enough interest from the private sector to start pushing things forward. It's taken half a century and the egos of some middle-aged billionaires to get us there but we're finally at that tipping point. Regarding Mission Mars and Space 220 from an edutainment standpoint, Mission Mars isn't even close and Space 220 is to the idea of actual space dining what T-Rex in Disney Springs is to actually dining in the Mesozoic era. :/

The guy on the left is already sending astronauts to the ISS and building Mars boosters and landers in Texas. The other two are thrill ride operators.
