↩ replying to WDWDad13Absolutely sticks out like a sore thumb. It is oversized compared to the other resort buildings and is missing some of the architectural touches of the original buildings. The view of the DVC building also is very "boxy" looking from the lagoon side (and the Poly), with large windowless areas.
Certainly not in line with the other buildings, and not appropriate for the architectural style and time period the resort is supposed to evoke. There was a thread or two about this a while back.
Much like the BLT, it was built with little concern for the relationship to its surroundings.
Now back on topic...hope the food is decent at the new Boat House restaurant! :D

Boat House looks interesting. Amphicars even more interesting... but how do they keep those Amphicars out of the way of the current launch traffic? I wonder if those have the run of the lake or just a small area near the restaurant. At least 2 launches serve DTD alone now, and resort launches serving 3 resorts out at any given time. A lot of traffic for that little lake. But Capt. Jack's Marina was there already, so perhaps the high price point for rental kept traffic down. Can't wait to see how all this unfolds.
And yes as someone said, the AC and BET club next door the shell of both still standing (for now). What on earth can one put in those structures? A brand new "hard-ticketed", dinner theater style AC that actually makes a profit! (ok hopes and dreams are free...)

↩ replying to omuriceThe boat rentals at Cap'n Jacks really weren't that expensive. The last time I rented there I had the run of the lake and up the river. So it's possible rental boats from Mahogany Bay Restaurant will have the same range.

Geez, they haven't even officially announced this place as a vendor and people are already ripping it for being lame and having a generic menu? Can't wait for the love fest when the rest of the vendors are eventually announced.

↩ replying to 71jasonI hear you and if it turns out to have the same menu as trex and rainforest it's a valid gripe, but they have to actually officially announce it and release a menu. Maybe it will be something different like this:
There is no oyster bar or ice cream parlor at trex.:)

I think Schussler's new Boat House concept is different than the existing The Boathouse that is owned by Landry's (who also owns Schussler developed Rainforest Cafe, T-Rex and Yak & Yeti).
