The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District is expected begin a major maintenance project at Disney Springs' Lime Garage early next year. The work focuses on structural repairs across all five levels of the parking structure, which supports Walt DIsney Wortld's busy shopping and dining district.

Although subject to change, documents made public by the CFTOD suggest the project is set to run from January 12 through March 13, 2026, with a brief reopening planned during the Presidents Day holiday weekend. Current plans call for:

  • Full closure: January 12 - February 11, 2026
  • Open for holiday weekend: February 12 - 16, 2026
  • Final closure and completion: February 17 - March 13, 2026

With over 2,000 parking spaces and direct pedestrian access to Disney Springs Town Center, it remains one of the resort's most heavily used garages. During the work, the other DIsney Springs garages and surface parking will remain available.

Seems odd that they can't do a partial closure either a deck or two at a time or splitting the garage in half and doing it that way. I suspect this has more to do with the Parking availability sensor/ light system than anything else as they have never worked properly and fixing/replacing them would require some pretty invasive surgery to the parking structure. The closure could also be to fix the Entry / Exit ramps for the garage which has been a cluster since it opened as the increased security at Disney Springs was kind of an Add on after the fact and it required traffic flow changes from the original plans.

I'm curious on this one too. How can you be doing major structural repairs but open up for a weekend in the middle of it?

My company has done similar "structural repairs" to a parking garage that we built 10-20 years ago. The work was mainly to 1) replace expansion joints that isolate sections of a very large building as they'd been run over excessively and the original expansion joint covers weren't sufficient to the amount of traffic it endured, 2) reinforce certain areas to allow for heavier vehicles (especially with EVs which are trending much heavier than typical vehicles), and some EV retrofit work to add chargers (and the massive amount of electrical you need to run to feed said chargers) and car count technologies. Those last items aren't necessarily structural but I see this work a lot with garages. We're coming up on 10 years on the dot for when this opened, so this feels pretty normal for preventative maintenance. If it wasn't safe they wouldn't let people park in it currently.

Not to mention, one that allows for reopening in the middle of said repairs...

Curious what kind of repairs need closing the garage for nearly 2 months straight...
