Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for work at Disney’s Animal Kingdom tied to the DINOSAUR attraction. The permit lists Mecca Productions, Inc. as the contractor and includes a scope of “Install Set Elements.”

The filing is assigned to the address of the DINOSAUR show building, indicating that this work is likely occurring inside or immediately surrounding the existing attraction.

Mecca Productions is a Central Florida-based fabrication and installation firm specializing in themed props, scenery, and set pieces. The company has a history of working on large-scale themed entertainment projects and frequently partners with Disney on scenic design and installation work.

While the permit does not indicate the exact nature of the set work, the description suggests that visual theming, props, or interior set pieces are being added, adjusted, or refreshed - either as routine maintenance or part of an enhancement.

DINOSAUR remains open to guests and continues to operate daily. Disney has previously confirmed that the attraction will close sometime after 2025 to make way for a new Indiana Jones-themed ride as part of the upcoming Tropical Americas expansion. However, no specific closing date has been announced.

This new set installation work may be part of continued upkeep or enhancements to maintain show quality as the attraction approaches the end of its operational life, or early preparation work for the new Indiana Jones attraction.

As previously announced, Disney’s Animal Kingdom is undergoing a major transformation in the area formerly known as DinoLand U.S.A. The 11-acre Tropical Americas land is expected to open in 2027 and will include:

  • A ride-through attraction based on Encanto
  • A new Indiana Jones adventure in a Maya temple
  • A kids’ play area, large quick-service restaurant, and other themed offerings

Tiana's is a disaster for a very specific reason concerning the environment it is in. HBG and the new Pirates addition are impressive in isolation hampered by poor placement and context concerning their appearance.

He’s there the entire time.

Don't get me started on the hat box ghost 😤

I mean, we can all agree Tiana's is a disaster. Are any animatronic-heavy attractions that bad? Or are people still that salty about the skeleton pirate and Hatbox Ghost?

HMF11 days ago

Indeed, especially since their track record with maintaining AA populated attractions is not that great right now on either coast.

This is why we don't talk about Bruno....

James Alucobond11 days ago

Yes, which has been said directly to him many times, but he doesn’t really care to listen.

Disney needs to stop caring about this. Create the best ride possible that guests who are a fan of the story will love. I don’t walk up to Alice and say “but the mad tea party is behind me so clearly this takes place after the tea party so why are following the rabbit?” This is how we get Tianas, and Frozen After, etc.

Isn't he behind the walls the entire time?

If the ride is supposed to take place before/during the first act of the movie, why would Bruno be there?

Please do correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Lentesta say there was going to at least be one Bruno animatronic at some point in the ride either in the queue or the ride itself? I'm assuming we're getting a mixture of both screens and animatronics for this ride, but I'm guessing screens will be for some more "complicated" aspects of the ride I suppose?

Brer Panther11 days ago

I expect there to be at least ONE Mirabel animatronic.

It’s cheaper…so you’ll see more of it
