Cinderella Castle Repainting - February 17 2026
Posted: Tuesday February 17, 2026 3:00pm ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

The Cinderella Castle repainting project at Magic Kingdom has made significant progress over the last week. The new grey color now covers most of the castle's back and has extended to the sides and areas near the front.

The back of the castle, which received the grey paint first, is now almost complete. The color has wrapped around the sides and begun appearing on sections visible from the hub.

You can see the transformation taking shape from multiple vantage points in the park. The contrast between the original pink tones and the new grey is stark in areas where both colors remain.

What's Next

Work on the front-facing sections should begin within days using high-reach cranes positioned in the drained moat. The castle's most photographed side has remained largely untouched during the initial phases of repainting.

Disney has not announced a completion date for the project. Based on the current pace, the transformation could finish within the next few weeks.

Looks like the very top where Tink comes out is still outstanding, as is the balcony wall. Not seeing much else for pink left.

I would have forgotten the 50th happened if you hadn't told me, it was such a non-event.

X is filled with bad takes from morons. So this checks out.

I've seen threads on X where people are criticizing the gray color toward the bottom. Don't shoot the messenger! Sigh. . .

Stunning. Making her look better for her 55th than her 50th was not on my bingo card, but I am appreciative.

I didn’t think I would like the gold near the top, but it feels much softer in @wdwmagic ‘s pics. Rather than the mustard color on some other blogs.

I could live without the trees if they'd just put some of the greenery back in where the compass rose pavement is right in front of the castle stage.

Grabbed this pic from blogmickey but my goodness this is glorious. This is probably the best she's ever looked imo and I just know the colors are probably better in person. Wish they'd bring back the classic hub trees too but oh well

It is! They actually removed the castle from MK completely, leaving just an open plaza in the hub. Instead, Disney now provides VR glasses (for a small fee) to all guests so we can continue to enjoy the Cinderella Castle Experience!

Yes. The lighter-colored roof and accents help maintain the illusion of even greater height. Higher contrast "shortens" it.
