Early Morning Views of Repainted Castle - March 10 2026

The Cinderella Castle repainting project is approaching completion, with the last visible pink sections now gone from the structure.

Work crews have finished applying the new color scheme to nearly all sections of the castle. Only a few small areas of trim work remain to be completed before the project wraps up.

The transformation has taken several weeks to complete. Early morning photos captured at sunrise show the castle in its near-final appearance as the sun rises over Magic Kingdom.

The drained moat and lift equipment that supported the work on front-facing sections remain in place as crews finish the remaining trim details.

It appears Mickey's Magical Friendship Faire will return to having a morning showtime beginning May 10, with a performance at 11:10am:

St Stephen's has entered the chat...

They probably still even have the signage in storage somewhere. Save a couple thousand dollars right there! ;)

I'd be happy with something else replacing the arrow wild mouse clone. I was in the magic kingdom before it existed and wouldn't be upset with something more modern or fanciful like the DLP Verne launcher.

They could rename it... Mission to Mars! IP tie-in finally! 😉

I personally don't want a clone of Tokyo's new Space Mountain... I would love to see our amazing Space Mountain fully restored and brought forward technologically... Quiet lift hill, On-Board audio, new and restored effects, and the return of the speed ramp exit with all new show sets... Keeping the original storyline of the ride where we are on a space station and taking a return shuttle to earth...and the marvels of living in the future... That portion could be more whimsical...more like Horizons...Which would make it less likely to be dated in 20 years... Or we reverse the trip and we are heading from Earth to a Space Station, Moon or Mars base for the final show scenes... The new show scenes should add some visible scenery to the Peoplemover too... Which would be nice instead of just darkness....

Tokyo’s old space mountain was DL size, but the new one that’s opening in 27’ is significantly larger. The footprint of the old space at Tokyo is the plaza for the new one.

Tokyo’s SM is DL size, the MK structure is far larger, there will be no cloning at MK.

Just my guess, but if you build out something new and shiny in Frontierland, once it’s open, it seems the perfect time to decide if you want to replace the current space mountain with the new Tokyo space mountain. If they did a five year exclusive on it, and it opens in ‘27, that would put the five years at 2032. You could see how well it performs in its first year or two in Tokyo. If it performs well, start the process to bring to MK. That also leaves time for villains or to decide to do that later as Space would be a known quantity. It’s not like Disney has never delayed or changed their minds for something they feel is a known quantity.

I think our original Space Mountain was the most ambitious and well designed of them all... The interweaving of the two distinct tracks is amazing...the original opening day score, the Home Of Future Living... It was really amazing. None of the changes over the years have really done anything better than the original iteration. It would be nice to see them completely redesign the Exit experience...put the speed ramp back in, create a spectacular new series of show sets, adding scenic elements for the people mover so it is not just a ride through a black void for most of it....Rebuild the original tracks with slight adjustments for a smoother ride and add real true onboard sound.... Oh and sync-up the sound on the re-entry tunnel that has been misfiring for the last 30 of its 51 years....lol That ride should have had its re-launch to celebrate its 50th last year..... Which would have been awesome.

Funny thing is despite its age some people say ours is the superior one. All change is not good.

When was the last time UOE got new carpeting?

I would argue that Tron should have been a motivator to finally give Space its major refurbishment that is two decades overdue to put it lightly. Seriously, Disneyland makes ours look like a joke and that refurbishment was now over twenty years ago.

You just couldn’t do it could you. Had a nice positive teed up, nice and juicy… had it on a silver platter and vomited negativity on it anyway. The sun shall rise in the East tomorrow.
