Disney has filed a Notice of Commencement for roof work at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World.

The permit is assigned to Commercial Roofing specialist Tecta America Southeast, LLC, and lists the scope of work as “re roof.” No further details are provided, and it’s unclear from the filing whether this is a localized repair or a larger-scale roof replacement.

Cinderella Castle, the visual centerpiece of Magic Kingdom, last saw a significant cosmetic update in 2020 when it was repainted with deeper blues, rose gold accents, and gold trim to mark Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. The current roofing permit could be related to ongoing upkeep or unrelated structural maintenance.

No start date or visible construction activity has been announced, and the we don't yet know if the work will impact park operations or guest experiences.

Friendship Faire and other castle stage entertainment will be dark this week due to construction work on the stage

Looks like Friendship Faire is off May 13-18th. Related?

I would love that. I really think in general MK needs just more depth like water/drones/elevation stuff.

Dreams was designed for the MK but for whatever reason, TDO passed on the show and it was installed at DLP...from what I was told long ago.

I remember someone on here photoshopped a picture of the new stone and gold outlines with the traditional gray towers back when they redid the castle back in 2020 and it looked awesome. I would have no qualms with them just repainting the pink/rose gold sections. The problem is they’d be more likely to just repaint the blue turrets and move on since they tend to do that more due to them fading more noticeably, at least in the past that was the case.

I agree but it’s extremely unlikely they would add fountains or anything to HEA. They will likely hold off for the next show so they can make a big deal out of the addition of fountains and other effects.

Even just painting the pink a shade of white or grey again would be a major improvement.

It's been said on here that around the time Disney Dreams Opened for DLP's 20th, a Disney Dreams setup was planned for MK but never happened. If Fountains are on the way: Add them into HEA! We don't need to worry about at HEA Replacement right now!

TTA94Apr 12, 2025

I would love this to. I believe a long time ago some insider on here had said moat fountains were in consideration at one point but for whatever reason never happened. If that is true then maybe whatever ends up replacing HEA will include moat fountains.

BocabearApr 12, 2025

I would love to see Disneyland Paris' Show fountain system installed in the moat...

Tokyo castle currently looks 10000 times better than WDW's castle, regardless what WDW castle looked like in 1970.
