Inside Magic Kingdom's Updated 2026 Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin Attraction
Posted: Wednesday April 8, 2026 7:30am ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is now officially open to guests at Magic Kingdom as of today, April 8, 2026.

The refurbished attraction is available during Early Entry, regular park hours, and Extended Evening Hours.

Operating Hours

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is operating today with the following hours:

  • Early Entry: 7:30am to 8am
  • Regular hours: 8am to 11pm
  • Extended Evening Hours: 11pm to 1am

The attraction is available through the regular standby line. Lightning Lane entry is also available with the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Pass.

What's New

The attraction closed in August 2025 for a major refurbishment that brings new scenes, redesigned vehicles, upgraded blasters, and more responsive gameplay tech to Tomorrowland.

The opening sequence has been completely reworked to introduce Buddy, a new support robot created by Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar. Buddy prepares Space Rangers for their mission with system checks and encouragement before you head into space.

Ride vehicles now have Star Command styling and onboard screens displaying real-time scoring. Handheld blasters replace the original fixed versions, offering better aim with vibration, sound effects, and an always-on laser to help you track your shots.

Interactive targets throughout the attraction now react and light up when hit, giving clearer feedback during gameplay.

The new marquee featuring a Space Mountain-style white spire is complete at the entrance, and the updated PhotoPass image includes detailed scoring breakdowns for each rider.

Having watched @wdwmagic ride-through POV... I'm quite happy. Good job WDI!

Here is a walk-through

Its in wdwmagic’a video. But besides changing the barrier between the lines it mostly looks the same

I don't think I saw any queue photos posted but seeing it in the background of some videos it looks close to the same, which is disappointing. I feel like they could have done more, even with the small space it occupies

Nah it should’ve happened years ago so therefore it sucks! /s

It’s a fantastic refurb. that’s it, full stop.

Store Command really ranks up there along with most of the original DCA in terms of some of the worst in -park nomenclature WDI has ever done.

FigmentJedi12 days ago

DL is even more overt about it being toys, it ends with the Aliens declaring that Zurg will be returned to the store for being a bad toy and there's a giant receipt.

No one is denying that. I would rather have something new but knowing the "value-imagineering" that tends to come with todays WDI I am quite pleased that this refurbishment actually turned out well.

long overdue refurb but it looks fantastic

I'm on the other extreme– I'd love to see them celebrate attraction milestones all the time: the millionth ride, an anniversary, a world record... I also appreciate when they do a last week/month/day/ride for closing attractions.

So once again you’re saying you are making things up and can’t answer/add anything of substance?

Centauri Space Station12 days ago

“Wow how dare they celebrate a massive update that completely redid the scoring system, upgraded targets, ride vehicles, and new scenes”

There’s a very thin line between “anti joy” and “anti low standard immaturity” …I’ll hit the door now 🚪
