DIsney's Blizzard Beach will be closed on Monday, February 23, and Tuesday, February 24, as a strong cold front pushes temperatures near freezing across the Orlando area.

Updated park hours on the Disney website confirm the closures. Typhoon Lagoon is already shut down for its annual refurbishment, meaning both of Disney's water parks will be unavailable for guests those days.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne is forecasting a sharp temperature drop beginning Sunday as a cold front sweeps through Central Florida. After near-record highs in the mid-to-upper 80s this weekend, conditions will change dramatically.

Here's what to expect:

  • Sunday: Scattered showers with 40-50% rain chances as the front moves through. Temperatures drop quickly Sunday evening.
  • Monday: Highs only in the upper 50s to lower 60s - about 15 degrees below normal. Wind chills as low as the low-to-mid 30s with breezy northwest winds of 15 mph.
  • Tuesday: The coldest night falls Monday into Tuesday morning, with lows in the 30s and wind chills potentially dropping into the mid-to-upper 20s. Frost is possible, with near-freezing temperatures in rural areas around Orlando.

Conditions are expected to recover quickly. Highs return to the low-to-mid 70s by Wednesday and the upper 70s to near 80 by Thursday.
