The new construction wall around Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom is now complete, blocking views into the Piston Peak construction site from the rollercoaster.
Heavy-duty support columns were installed several weeks ago ahead of the attraction's May 3 reopening. The wall planking has now been attached to those columns, completing the barrier.
Riders on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will now see the tall wooden wall rather than the Piston Peak construction activity taking place on the other side. The wall runs along the section of track that previously offered sightlines into the construction zone.
The wall is not a temporary scrim. As we reported previously, the structure was designed to withstand severe weather conditions including hurricane-force winds and is expected to remain in place for several years while construction of Piston Peak continues.
