Disney's Animal Kingdom main entrance construction - June 2020

The main entrance redevelopment project at Disney's Animal Kingdom has resumed with the aim of completion prior to the July 11 reopening of the park.

These aerial images offer a great look at the scope of the project, which includes the removal of the old security checkpoints near to the flag pole, the addition of a large bag check area closer to the parking lot, and a revised tram loop.

Much like the change made at Disney's Hollywood Studios, the new security checkpoint features a wide open expanse, which on busy days will hold the queue for each bag check line, and with social distancing, will likely be used to its full extent.

The changes being made aim to address the guest arrival experience by moving security screening further away from the main entrance and offering much more capacity. This should see an end to temporary tents and crowded conditions close to the park's main entry.
