The main feature pool at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort is scheduled to be closing for a refurbishment later this year.

The Silver Creek Springs pool is expected to close on September 3 through to November 27, reopening again on November 28 2014.

During that time, the quiet pool will remain open, and guests will be able to use the pools at both Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and Disney's Contemporary Resort, with transportation provided to both.

According to a permit filed the other day they are going to be expanding the pool deck, so this appears to be more then just a refurb.

Just curious why they need 3 months for pool refurb? Is anything special being done to area other than maintenance ? Thanks

Thanks for the advise.

I had not heard this about the Wilderness Lodge yet only the Poly. It would be nice for people if it is also for the Wilderness Lodge

When I called they assured me that the boats will be running and the path open, I don't know about the geyser

As a DVC member staying on points, I'm kinda bummed that I don't have the opportunity to get moved :( Does anyone know the exact refurbishments going on? (besides adding the security gates around the pool perimeter) Will the geyser be obstructed? and the boat path?

I would go with a Woods View. There will certainly be noise from this. Just like at Poly. I imagine some rooms will be removed from booking due to what will be excessive noise.

I read on touringplans.com that if you ask for it, they will give everyone in your party free admission to blizzard beach for a day during the refurb. But apparently they are not offering this info, you have to inquire about it.

I'm wondering the same thing. I don't want to be woken up early with the sweet sounds of a jack hammer.

i don't mind the pool being closed but do you think theres going to be lots of construction noise or walls up around the whole pool area?

I am so excited I complained to Disney and the just upgraded us to the Contemporary for free! There was like a $1000 difference we don't have to pay, and we have never stayed at the Contemporary.

PO is beautiful! We have stayed at POR and loved it. You must take time to watch Bob Jackson perform in the lounge. I believe he is there Thursday thru Saturday nights.

They don't ... they are separate ... I thought so too initially, but they are separated under the bridge, very clever and very well hidden.

That is supposed to be done any day now. Don't know how the pool construction will affect it though. it is odd they did not do all the work at the same time.
