video of Walt Disney paying tribute to animation pioneers, they

Construction Report by Ian Parkinson (1 Feb 2001)
|
The work on the garden and pathways at the entrance has
moved on a great deal, you can now see where the planted areas and paths
will be. The Arch that marks the entry way has started to be
covered in smaller steelwork making it look a lot better.
The building in the Front Lot have all been sealed to
the outside elements, and the outside is starting to get more detail and
paint finishes.
The largest building Studios Boulevard has been roofed
and closed up for a while now, we can only assume that the finishing
inside is underway.
Animania and Cinemagique (either side of the Boulevard)
have both got there hooped roof structure in place. I have to say it does
not look very permanent. Cinemagique has started to be covered in what
looks like a fabric roof on top of the hoops. You can also now see the
stepped seating area in the Animania building, so it's definatley a show !
The Tram Loading area steel work has appeared in the
last few weeks, this marks the start of the Backstage tram tour.
The Disney Channel Studios should be the nearest
completions as this will open before the rest of the park, production is
slated to start in May 2001.
The Animagique building is looking very interesting, the
steelwork has just gone up for what will be a 40foot high Mickeys hat.
Rumours are that this will be the same attraction as the Animation
building in Disney's California Adventure (I hope so as it has had reave
reviews)
It is hard to see any further into the park, but the
roof is now up on the seating area at the stunt show.
I have heard that testing has started on the Rock and
Roller coaster and Catastrophe Canyon, but this is impossible to verify.
With just over a year to go, before we start to get
visitors in the park, things are looking OK. |

The Rock 'n' RollerCoaster
will plunge guests into the midst of action. This will be the most
hair-rising experience in the entire park. Visitors hurled by a
catapult will travel at high velocity to a recording studio, where
they will take part in the taping of a video clip complete with
rock music, lasers and light effects. We asked the famous rock
group Aerosmith to compose the music for this new and extravagant
adventure, a heady combination of rock 'n' roll and tailspins,
dives and loop-the-loops.

Stunt Show and Tram Loading
An open air amphitheater seating 3000
visitors can experience an extraordinary stunt show lasting 25
minutes: in a small Mediterranean village, secret agents are
trying to arrest a group of terrorist involved in arms
trafficking. The action will combine terrific stunts using cars ,
motorcycles and trucks with explosions that build in intensity to
a mind-boggling finale. And, there will be plenty of laughs, for
good measure.
