Disney has announced that the Epcot International Festival of the Arts will take place from January 12 to February 19 in 2018.

Like last year, the event will run for 5 weeks, bringing together the visual, culinary and performing arts.

Unlike last year, the festival will take place 7 days a week, with special entertainment offerings planned for each weekend.

We got the "Dream It, Do It" print that has an insane number of hidden characters and hidden mickeys. Not a picture of my ... picture, but gives a good idea! You can see some of the hidden characters in between the leaves, but there's lots, lots more hidden in the leaves themselves. Amazing, amazing piece of art.

Greg is fun to talk to! His story about doing a huge commission for one of the families in Golden Oaks was interesting (and very, very expensive). Even though I never cared too much for the Disney Star Wars crossovers, I had to pick up something of his. Then last year I had to pick up diver Goofy. We have some more of his stuff in other parts of our house. Everytime I see him, I know I'm buying something else of his. What did you get? Jason Grandt is another good name to look out for.

I really enjoyed the Arts festival this year. Bought some artwork and got to meet the artist (Greg McCullough). We didn't do any of the extras or buy a ton of food, but high marks for the paint-your-own cookie.

After attending the Garden, Wine, and Arts festivals, the Arts wins hands down IMO. Perhaps if I had a garden to take care of I'd put Garden first.

While I enjoyed the festival, I definitely understand the sentiment. I pointedly said to my wife that this feels like they had an inventory of artwork at Art of Disney and they were trying to get rid of it.

thanks, mr. p - if only they had described it like that in the accompanying literature, i'd have a new scarf right now. :cautious:

Because nothing is being tied for this effect? And cloth that is tied for dying creates radial patterns but marbling creates layered patterns? They are two very different techniques and results.

This. Exactly this. And why they are calling tie-dye “marbling” now i have no idea

The walls around UoE are housing some of those completed group paintings that you can do in World Showcase. From "Passport to the Parks" on Flickr: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4722/39039816995_c43e3f5635_b.jpg

Just found a blogger posting about it and even giving a time! 2 – Animation Academy: Long time Disney World fans will remember they used to have this as a regular thing at Hollywood Studios. One of the Disney artists draws a character step by step and you can view their work on a TV screen and follow along . You leave with a completed character drawing. It’s a lot of fun, takes about 20 minutes and is free. You’ll find it at the Odyssey Pavilion from 2:00-8:30 PM. http://livingbydisney.com/10-things-must-epcots-festival-arts/

Yes, but now it is in Oddysey (since the old space is now the SpectacuLAME).

I personally gave up on F&W years ago and I've been disappointed in the F&G festival the last few years (LOVE the ambiance, EPCOT always looks amazing, but food is lackluster). I have no shame in admitting that I am a huge fan of the Festival of the Arts. The food is above and beyond what is served at the other festivals and the entertainment is unique and fun.I really hope the offerings remain strong and I'm already looking forward to the Festival next year.

Yeah I am not sure why it isn't mentioned anywhere but its there.

MisterPenguinJan 19, 2018

Wow, every blog out there and Disney themselves seem to forget to mention that. Maybe... they're hoping people don't know about it so they can get in!
