“It’s A Small World” as the Convention Spotlight Shines on Disneyana 2000, Sept. 5-9 LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Before the confetti settles on this year’s convention season, there’s one more national gathering that’s sure to get a magical response from its “ConventionEars” -- the Official Disneyana Convention, Sept. 5-9, at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The ninth annual event, complete with its own “Speakers of the Mouse” line-up, brings together 2,000 Disney enthusiasts from around the country for the chance to meet Disney legends and take part in seminars, workshops, pin-trading and auctions featuring limited edition Disney memorabilia. With this year’s theme of “It’s A Small World,” Disneyana welcomes Academy Award-winning songwriter and creator of the “It’s A Small World” theme Richard M. Sherman, costume designer Alice Davis, Disney Imagineering legend Harriet Burns and Marty Sklar, vice chairman and principal creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering. Each year, the general public has two opportunities to participate in convention festivities at the Contemporary Resort: Disneyana Auction Sept. 7 with a preview 3-7 p.m. and bidding 7-9:30 p.m. Auction admission is $25. On Public Day, Sept. 9, 1-6 p.m., guests are invited to bid on convention collectibles and share in the entertainment and excitement of this one-of-a-kind event. Admission is $10. Vacation packages include four nights accommodations at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, unlimited admission to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, admission to all convention functions and select meals.
