The Magic Kingdom's Walt Disney World Railroad closure due to TRON coaster construction is scheduled to begin early December and last into early 2019.

The closure is expected to begin on December 3 2018, and is planned to continue through to January 5 2019. Further closures are then likely.

During the closure, the Walt Disney World Railroad will temporarily take up residence at the Main Street Station. Disney has said that during this time, you will be able to get an up-close look at the railroad and take advantage of one-of-a-kind photo opportunities.

I know that, but just be glad the Lilly Belle's wheels only suffered some minimal damage because I believe the engineer closed the throttle for the Tron tunnel after realizing what she had done. Otherwise, if she left the throttle fully opened then it will cause severe damage to not only the locomotive's wheels but also the rails and running gear.

you have to admit, the grease fires would add to the thrill of the pavilion...and they would sell a lot of Tums... Wonder if they could get Tums to sponsor the pavilion?

I, for one, look forward to the bi-monthly grease trap fires.

There! the answer for what to do with PLAY!...The North America Midway Pavilion or NAMP...they could put three spinners in there and 36 deep fryers for carnival food...and add an upcharge to get in the door.... It would be hell scraping all that grease off the ceiling though....

They probably could have expanded the speedway and work around tron now that construction is complete.... I just think at this point, unless they do something to bring the speedway up to Disney show standards, they might as well remove it and put something in that will match tone and style with the rest of the park. If they want to make the existing Speedway better, more fitting with it's Tomorrowland/Tron adjacent aesthetic, that would be great...and would be a better argument to keep it...imo

Taking a segment out of the speedway is well worth the cost of Tron. Trons pretty good.

it is harder and more expensive to play catch-up after the fact... they let the parks languish too long and now they are having to invest in bringing them up to date....Their underwhelming updates and lack of investment will be more noticeable when Epic Universe opens and Disney is touting a re-vamp of the Little Mermaid stage show...lol

JoeCamelDec 21, 2023

Once Epic opens and they are scrambling for ideas it will be reimagined, sure that will put the pressure on them, sure it will.....

In 10 years, it will be the Tomorrowland Roundabout.

BocabearDec 21, 2023

LOL! It is pretty done...they are doing nothing with the speedway, the Tron themed speedway isn't happening and the current version has been cut down to a quick loop and back to the station.... Another 21st Century TDO fail.

Still loud and smelly. Isn’t this topic basically done? I should be using these words to voice outrage over Dr. Facilier.
