In a continuing effort to free up more viewing space for Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at Disney's Hollywood Studios, further changes are being made to the Star Wars - A Galaxy Far, Far, Away stage show.

The show is now closed for refurbishment through to June 15, and when it reopens on June 16, it will use mobile stages in place of the existing permanent stages.

Each of the mobile stages will be positioned each morning, and then removed following the final performance of the show prior to the nighttime shows.

With the new stages, more viewing space will be available for Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular and the recently opened Disney Movie Magic.

They even cut out all of the stairs folding up and the lower stage retracting. Probably cut out another 8 minutes

Wait... A storyline? Something that would cost slightly more money than a simple stage? That's just crazy talk.

What I don’t understand is why the March of the First Order isn’t ambushed by a group of Resistance fighters on the stage (with the screens set to look like a small base) with the use of low level pyro and the stage’s infrastructure in a small scale battle of sorts. It could end in a stalemate, with the Resistance running off towards the Launch Bay, pursued by Phasma, as a Tie Fighter ‘blows up’ the stage. There, it took me five minutes to come up with a short show that provides action, a compelling but simple storyline, is a unique Star Wars offering, and all while using existing infrastructure.

To be fair... most americans wouldnt really know what a block party is either anymore. We're lucky if we know our neighbors name at all.

Yep. And that comes from someone who actually enjoyed Block Party Bash (although most Europeans wouldn't know what a block party was)

The High School Musical show was so forgettable and out of place.

It's a park in need and a recently acquired IP that the grown ups are determined to exploit.

Kman101Oct 25, 2017

Exactly. It's just a fashion show. Put on a real show and then maybe I can understand the effort to have a stage there. I guess I'd take a costume fashion show over a Disney Channel Mixed Hits DJ Dance Party. But ew. High School Musical.

Or have a decent show to put on? I suppose it's not High School Musical at least.

Kman101Oct 25, 2017

Yeah, walking works just the same. Parade them down Hollywood, turn them to Star Tours and parade them on the Jedi stage. I know they want it in the center of the park but I don't think it's necessary. I mean, I'm glad if there's going to be a stage it gets taken in at night, but it just seems like a lot of effort to just parade characters on the stage for a photo op.

We saw them just walking on the pavement this year. It worked for me just as well as the “fashion show” from the year before.

“15 second fast forward” is your friend.

Kman101Oct 25, 2017

It's well done but is all this really necessary just to parade Star Wars characters on stage a few times a day?

PREMiERdrumOct 25, 2017

Considering how bare-bones these could have been, I think they're exceptional.
