Disney has today announced that Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire Hyper-Reality Experience will open December 16 2017 at Disney Springs.

The 30 minute experience will operate from 9am to 11:45pm daily, with tickets priced at $29.95 and available now at The Void.

Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire will transport guests deep into the beloved Star Wars universe allowing them to walk freely and untethered throughout the multi-sensory experience with friends and family. In groups of four, teams will go undercover as Stormtroopers to capture Imperial intelligence vital to the budding rebellion’s survival.

“We are so excited about this magical collaboration between three boundary-pushing companies in the burgeoning out-of-home VR entertainment sector,” says Curtis Hickman, co-founder and chief creative officer at The VOID. “We can’t wait to share the experience of hyper-reality with everyone.”

Guests can experience the excitement of hyper-reality today with this first look at Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire.

“People have longed for a chance to step into the Star Wars universe and this incredible new hyper-reality experience will allow them to do just that in a totally unique way,” notes Vicki Dobbs Beck, executive in charge, ILMxLAB. “It’s a group experience that evokes the senses in bold new ways.

The new experience will use space from Once Upon A Toy in the Marketplace, with most of the merchandise from that area relocated to the new Star Wars Trading Post.

That would be sweet. Or a VR take on Epic Mickey... in which we can play as Mickey or Oswald strolling through EPCOT to restore the park and remove the destruction wrought by Evil Robot Chapek, and use our magic paint brushes to Make EPCOT Great Again.

Imagine a personalised VR tour of Disneyland by Walt though. That would be cool

So you have to tried it yet? You are gonna freak. It really goes beyond VR in a big way. I'm sure I even missed some things but you really have most of your senses in use. You'll understand why a VR tour of Epcot would be wasted on this tech.

I'm in the same boat. I actually loathe Star Wars, but am extremely excited just to experience this application of VR. I hope that they expand into other worlds. The Ghostbusters experience looks fun, but it's the wrong IP. Evanishment looks right up my alley, but isn't exactly Disney-friendly. Give me 30 mins of VR at Disney Land in the 80s, or of EPCOT Center in the early 90s. Or a DisneySea walkabout.

While I love this experience and will definitely try to do it again, I am really anxious to find out if there are more experiences on the way. I sort of wish disney springs would have a world class escape room experience. If you've ever been to a 5 wits, you may know what I mean. Something that is very interactive and is more than just locks and puzzles.

We did this a couple times when we were there in Dec. 2017, so I hope it's still operating when we go this coming Dec. If anyone hears anything, please let us know? Tia!

If no one replies, you can go to the Void website and shoot them an email asking questions. I did this like five times before our trip in Dec. and they answered me pretty quick every time. Nice, lengthy answers, too. Let us know if you do this!
