The Magic Kingdom will present a special Flag Retreat ceremony tomorrow, June 6.

In association with Disney's SALUTE Diversity Resource Group, the ceremony will honor World War II veterans in remembrance of D-Day. In attendance will be veterans from the Orlando VA Medical Center, who have served in World War II and the Vietnam War.

The special Flag Retreat ceremony will take place at 5pm June 6 2017 in Town Square on Main Street U.S.A.

The SALUTE group commits to providing a military perspective to enhance the cast and guest experience at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.

According to the article there is a specific group responsible for this and other military things at WDW. I would try to look them up and contact them.

This makes my heart happy that WDW is doing this. We are losing our WW2 vets everyday. They are our treasures. God bless them.

That's lovely! We got to meet a couple at Pearl Harbor about 5 years ago. They were so kind and talkative, one of them told stories to my 2 boys for like 45 min. The kids were truly engrossed, and he seemed genuinely sad to go when his handlers (yes, plural) pulled him away to get him to the speech he was supposed to be giving at the auditorium. I was mortified that people were actually being kept waiting while he told my family stories, but one of the handlers came back and told us not to feel bad. It makes his day when he can connect to people on an individual basis - esp. kids. I was like, ok, but people are waiting. She said he's always late and opens his speeches with an apology because ,"he's so old and slow and loses track of time". Then everyone laughs and forgives him. Yeah, I would, too. He was amazing, a treasured memory.

That's really cool!! I'm glad they're doing something like that.

Do you know if they can add more veterans to the ceremony. I work with former pow and think that some would love to experience this. Thank you
