Kali Rapids testing lockers only for personal items

Kali Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom will be testing a lockers-only policy for personal possessions later this week.

From September 27 to October 3 2015, riders at Kali Rapids will not be able to take personal possessions on-board the rafts. Complimentary lockers will be available for use.

This policy is standard at Universal Orlando for many of their attractions, but has not been used at Walt Disney World. It isn't clear if this test is just for its potential use at Kali Rapids, or if it will extend out to other attractions should it be successful.

Do you think they are anticipating slightly lower crowds then? When they planned it, maybe they weren't expecting such high attendance?

Good question. I wonder why it cancelled?

Well they carry $500 ipads/Iphones and anything apple based it will get soaked and fryed in water..

G00fyDadSep 27, 2015

You haven't? I see it from time to time. At least once per trip.

I agree. My comment was more to the intelligence of people these days. You'd think that people would be able to perform this very simple procedure. Unfortunately there are multitudes of idiots out there that make things more difficult for others because they cannot put 2 and 2 together to get 4. Get in, sit down, stow items, buckle up, and have fun. That isn't rocket science.

I don't see people carrying around a laptop in the parks anytime soon.

Could be, but it won't slow operation of the ride if people have difficulty with the locker.

It was a bad joke. Sorry. I was picking up on your language, where you said it's your choice whether your stuff gets wet or not. I didn't actually think you would argue with anyone.

G00fyDadSep 27, 2015

And exactly why would I argue with the CM at the gate? Where on earth did you read that I said I would argue with a CM? I stated my own personal preference. I thought that was still allowed here. o_O

Contrary to popular belief, there is no right to risk getting your stuff wet. ;) So, good luck arguing that one with the CM at loading time.

How hard is it to get in, sit down, store your stuff in the middle console, and buckle up? If people cannot handle that then they probably barely survived getting out of bed that morning. Add a puzzle too hard for these people to figure out so it thins out the herd some. Oh, wait. They're already doing that. Its called a key to be turned and a locker door to open. That might be too difficult for some that cannot open a plastic flap on the ride vehicle.
