Disney has provided a new update on the queuing process for the Walt Disney World Annual Passholder previews of Journey of Water Inspired by Moana at EPCOT.

Disney had initially said that a standby queue would be in place and "a virtual queue will not be available."

Plans quickly changed in the first hour of the opening day of previews, and Disney put in place a modified Virtual Queue, which required guests to join a long line to reach a poster with a QR code to enter a hidden Virtual Queue. Due to various issues, the QR code was quickly abandoned, and Disney reverted to using the standard Virtual Queue process in the 'My Disney Experience' app.

The latest update says that a standby line will be in place, and a Virtual Queue in My Disney Experience may be used during periods of high demand. You can check if a Virtual Queue is currently operating by visiting the Virtual Queue tab in My Disney Experience.

Here is the full wording from Disney:

  • Registration is not required to attend this preview. However, you must have a theme park reservation for EPCOT on the day of the preview.
  • A standby queue will be in place for this experience. To ensure the best Guest experience, a virtual queue may open for eligible Annual Passholders during periods of high demand. When a virtual queue is available, Guests may join after entering EPCOT, using the My Disney Experience app.
  • An eligible, activated Annual Pass is required to attend this preview. You must show your Annual Pass card, Disney MagicMobile pass, MagicBand or MagicBand+—along with valid photo identification—when checking in.
  • Everyone in your party must be an Annual Passholder to attend this preview experience.

Passholder previews will take place at EPCOT from park open to park close on the following dates:

  • September 24 to September 29, 2023
  • October 1 to October 4, 2023

Excellent! Very happy to see it back up so quick, and that it's not going to be an "oh well.."

Disney fixed something. I thought that didn't happen.

Nice. Quick repair. Maybe just a late growing pain.

Looks like the finale effect is back open. https://blogmickey.com/2024/05/moana-journey-of-water-big-wave-ocean-finale-effect-repaired-at-epcot/

EXACTLY! and Moana would have looked better in DAK.... And maybe a splash Zone themed to an Oceanographic Institute actually on the same side of the monorail beam as the Living Seas would have been a better choice.... Something that matched the style of the front half of the park....

Keep kids entertained, something to cool off. However if that is the case how come Hollywood Studios doesn't offer one or Animal Kingdom. If the Dino playground is going away for good then that's removing something for the kids. Hollywood Studios could use something water it's hot there.

I still don’t see how it was a good idea to put a Moana water feature in the middle of Epcot. What were they thinking???

Perhaps this is just Epcot crying out I don't want this transformation that none of us asked aside minor enhancements or upgrades like Creation Shop and Connections made well better for Epcot how it was.

Did I ever suggest that? I simply stated that these things should not be happening within months of opening such things. Especially when you’ve made the consumer wait so long and had the park under walls for half a decade. It’s just bad show.

Listen I get the complaints but I will never attack Disney for fixing or repairing their mistakes. It’s unfortunate that things are already breaking in a newly constructed area. Maybe they need better oversight on these projects or a different contractor.

They shouldn't break this fast. It's embarassing. And we're not talking about complicated AA's. We're talking about lights and a water feature. And those lights failed after one night.

Things break…would you rather them ignore it?
