EPCOT Future World Central Spine demolition - October 5 2020
Posted: Friday October 9, 2020 2:40pm ET by WDWMAGIC Staff

Click the gallery for a look at the demolition progress on the central spine of EPCOT's Future World.

Work is continuing on stripping the interior of Mouse Gear, with much of the structure now completely visible through from either side.

Demolition is moving further inside the former Electric Umbrella, including the removal of the second level seating.

A few small exterior areas have been removed from Innoventions North West, which was expected to be fully demolished to make way for the Moana gardens. It remains unclear what the revised plans are for this area.

Having a place that sells the best festival food all year round kinda makes having the festivals in the first place redundant. The festivals exist, usually in the slower months, to draw more people in. But if you can now get the exclusive treats all year round then there's no point even having the festival. Also as mentioned already, Odyssey would have been the best place for this. Any news on Play pavilion? Irks me that this huge piece of real estate, a long with Magic Kingdom's Stitch ride building are just sitting abandoned. WDW is the most visited theme park resort in the World, if I was Disney I'd want to use that as the opportunity to showcase the best of everything yet Disney has long since become complacent and letting the place rot and having abandoned buildings that could easily be utilised is inexcusable.

You must be new here… If they aren’t complaining, its a rarity.

Two new rides and a cessation of a Food Festival during the Summer. If that's evolution, they're doing it wrong.

Coming soon (probably) to The Seas with Nemo and Friends - Cars: A Musical Celebration.

Well they did it and look stupid…cause that’s awesome, right?

It’s less of a complete park today than it was in 1998… Our standards need re-evaluated.

nah its still a great theme park, but with more food options...thats not a bad thing imo. Epcot always felt like the adult park where they focused on eating drinking and ambience more than rides and thrills. But they added a few great rides over the last years so its gotten a bit better in that regard as well

The continuing evolution of Epcot from a theme park to the world’s largest food court.

One would assume it’s a mishmash of things that sell really well (ie highest prices/margins) from the 345 days a year of festivals I’m not in love with it…but it’s also not the worst idea ever If they’re smart…big If…they rotate it seasonally to not cross with the festival booths…it’s a good idea. If it’s set stuff and they just push volume…not so much.

I’m hoping that they have the empanada that the Encanto booth has during Festival of the Arts. That is one of my favorite festival foods!
