Disney has shared a behind-the-scenes look at preparations for the upcoming new drone show at Disney Springs.

"Disney Dreams That Soar" is a summertime experience that will be a late-night perk for visitors. Taking place over the Disney Springs lake, "Disney Dreams That Soar," will showcase Disney stories celebrating the joy of flight with state-of-the-art drones choreographed to create designs in the sky and paired with a "soaring" musical score and memorable movie quotes.

Disney will use 800 drones in the 10-minute show to create Disney characters and scenes in the sky, such as The Rocketeer, Orange Bird, the Deathstar—which is actually bigger than Spaceship Earth—and Baymax, which is even bigger than the Deathstar. When watching "Disney Dreams That Soar," your MagicBand+ will come alive—lighting up, vibrating and interacting with the show.

"Disney Dreams That Soar" will run nightly from May 24 through September 2, 2024. Viewing areas are on Disney Springs West Side—along the waterfront between the Cirque du Soleil Theatre and Aerophile. Viewing areas for Disney Dreams That Soar will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Just curious but how is the drone show from the roof of the parking lots?

Yep and they operated right on the limit last Friday night with 18mph gusts.

Funny enough they can withstand more wind than Disneyland's fireworks. The ones in springs are modified parrot anifi drones which can resist winds up to 31 mph but with multiple drones being crammed next to each other it gets reduced to 18mph max wind.

Disney probably shouldn’t invest too much into Drone only shows for the parks. Drones are unreliable with even the slightest wind the show gets canceled. It’s fine if the have a B mode or have it as a secondary show.

Maybe they could build a large platform/dock/barge on the water for them to take off and land on where they never fly over guest areas perhaps.

Well they sure flock on, anyone with a stroller using running on people as a weapon. Any chance you defend yourself from your feet instead of the husband apologizing you got the wife muttering cutting your talk off telling you your at Disney!

'Disney Dreams That Soar' was featured in the latest episode of We Call It Imagineering on YouTube. From 7:51 to 10:19:

I think there is a pretty strong desire to have drones in MK as part of a nighttime spectacular, but currently there are more pressing issues.

Are Drones in MK even a a possibility? Or should we drop the idea of MK Drones.

MK daily firework show isn't the immediate priority, so I would expect to see other things before any possible changes there.
