Demolition crews have moved into the ESPN Club on Disney's BoardWalk to remove the theming elements from the former ESPN building.

Crews are using high-reach lifts and saws to cut through the steel supports of the large decorative pieces.

The BoardWalk remains open to guests during the work.

Disney has announced that a new table service restaurant and bakery, The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, will be taking over the space. Learn more about the BoardWalk updates.

ESPN Club opened at Walt Disney World in July 1996 and offered classic American pub cuisine, sports entertainment and shopping, along with live tv coverage of sporting events. The club closed along with the rest of Walt Disney World during the pandemic and did not reopen.

Corn dog stand is actually pretty much ready to go. Maybe they are still waiting on staffing or final approvals?

Thank you! It needed to be said! He’s been asked to double his working hours to 2 per day, every other day, with weekends and holidays off. He needs all the hydration he can get in order to finish the job by the 60th anniversary of WDW!

He’s doing the work of an entire construction crew - let the man drink!

It could be 1 worker with 2 bottles of water!

The bakery is behind on their DVC points payments.

How nice. The lone worker found a friend.... Meanwhile at the boardwalk siding replacement, it's all hands on deck.

Well, the heat has been oppressive, so maybe the one worker needed 2 bottles? It's probably the same ONE that is working on the Cake Bake Shop.

I didn't say it was lux, but that they decorated in styles that copied lux.

Breaking: 2 Bottles of water mean that there are at least 2 people working on the corn dog stand.

I grew up on LBI...There was nothing really luxe there....and AC before Casinos, was not quite luxe....Remnants of old seaside Victorian architecture....Nautical yacht club kind of stuff.... but nothing really fancy....

I grew up on the Jersey shore... Pt. Pleasant, Seaside, Wildwood... There's nothing out of place about that building. So far. Boardwalks have always gone out of their way to copy elite decorations of bygone times creating a mash-up of styles to look lux.

I think we have all been saying this all along.... not quite the right vibe for The Boardwalk.... So that means they will be adding a Jersey Shore themed diner to the Grand Floridian....lol

The Cake Bake signage screams Grand Floridian as does the whole vibe. Has no business being at Boardwalk.
